Handy OS X Customizations
As much as I like OS X, there are still a few default behaviors that annoy me. The following script has some of the customizations I apply to the Macs I use. Just run any/all of these commands from the terminal. Just remember to perform the last step of relaunching the dock and/or finder to apply the changes. Enjoy!

Updated Design
This afternoon I uploaded an updated design for confused by earlier errors, bailing out. The new version allows me to take advantage of some additional features tumblr provides (including search). It also gives more room for full text posts, which I intend to do more of. There will still be some tweaks to the design, but overall I’m happy with it, and hopefully you will like it as well. I...

Pretty cool tutorial on creating a snowboarding themes website design. Though it does not seem overly snowboard specific… more winter themed to me. Cool nonetheless.

A couple of interesting articles for someone...
This afternoon I ran across a couple of articles talking about one person’s experience of becoming a freelance designer. Obviously I’m not going to be becoming a freelance designer (well any kind of designer really), but its still interesting reading. I’m sure some of the information is transferable to other kinds of freelancers. It does seem like a cool way to work if you can...

Google Labs: Browser Size Tool →
This is pretty cool if you are a web designer (or have a website and pretend to be one like I do). Basically the folks over at Google Earth did some analysis of screen size to determine why people were not clicking on the ‘Download & Agree’ button. (You can get full details here.) Then came up with a tool that you can enter the URL of your website into and see it with data about...

Power outlet with built in USB →
I guess seeing how many things charge with USB now something like this could be useful. Though I have to wonder how much power this wastes having the power inverter always connected; presumably using a small amount of power.
[edit] Upon second reading the page claims they do not draw any power unless a device is connected, but who knows for sure.

Deleting applications from the Android simulator
During the Android development I have done so far I have noticed that apps are not always redeployed properly to the simulator. Any time this happens you must remove the application manually using the following command:
adb shell rm data/app/AppName.app.apk
Mac vs PC People: Personality Traits &...
leinad:
A summary of how Mac and PC Users differ in terms of personalities and aesthetic/media choices
Mac People are more likely to see the existing world in a light of “sameness” and thus express a need to be perceived as different and unique. This is consistently reflected in their aesthetic choices such as bold colors, “retro” designs, one-of-a-kind clothing and highly stylized art.
